The Fort Knox Spouses and Community Club (FKSCC) is a service oriented non-profit organization that supports a variety of activities for the social, cultural and educational benefit of our membership. The FKSCC also financially supports numerous organizations within the Fort Knox and civilian communities. Members enjoy the friendships and networking connections established through our luncheons, activities and special events. Our charitable endeavors are very rewarding to our members who graciously dedicate their time and talent so we may generously give back to the community, while making lasting friendships as we serve together.
The FKSCC is a diverse group of women and men from Fort Knox and the surrounding communities that are highly involved in the workplace and as volunteers. Our members have many different interests and talents. In the FKSCC, you are sure to find someone with whom you share things in common or to share new interests. We are an all ranks club comprised of spouses and community members and always welcome new faces.
History of FKSCC
The Fort Knox Spouses and Community Club (FKSCC) was founded as The Women’s Club of the U.S. Army Armor Center Officer’s Open Mess on October 9, 1950 under the leadership of Mrs. Thomas L. Harrold, Honorary President and Mrs. Edward M. Fickett, President. At the inception, the club’s purpose was promotion of companionship among its members, encouraging participation in Fort Knox activities, and encouraging active participation in the International Group and in the Special Interest Groups of the Club. During the 1950s, Special Interest Groups included Party Bridge, Ballet, Interior Decorating, Beauty and Charm, Shoe Covering, Rifle and Pistol, French, Dog Obedience, Knitting, and Ballroom Dancing. Membership was open to women members of the Fort Knox Officers’ Mess (wives, mothers, sisters and adult daughters of members of the Fort Knox Officers’ Mess). Membership also included the wives of all foreign officers stationed at Fort Knox.
The name of the FKSCC has changed over the years. We were also known as the Officers’ Wives Club and then the Officers’ and Civilians’ Spouses Club until becoming the Fort Knox Spouses and Community Club in 2007 when membership was opened to those outside the Fort Knox military community. It was during this year that the Enlisted Spouses Club decided to close out their club, and we began to welcome spouses of soldiers of all ranks into our club. Despite the name changes, the purpose of the club has remained the same – camaraderie and friendship among members and supporting the community.
